Evidence Based Program

We have been designated as an “Evidence Based Program” by the National Council on Aging (NCOA). The NCOA is a nonprofit agency that promotes health and wellness program access for older adults by partnering with other nonprofit organizations, businesses, and the government. The NCOA receives funding from the Administration for Community Living, a branch of the Department of Health and Human Services.

The NCOA certifies health and wellness programs as “Evidence Based Programs” if they meet rigorous standards for quality research and readiness for community use. When health and wellness programs are certified as “Evidenced Based Programs,” community centers and senior centers can access special funding from Title IIID of the Older Americans Act to make these programs available to the communities they serve.

Our research shows that On the Move: Group Exercise for Improved Mobility in Older Adults® (OTM) can help older adults improve their walking. One of our main goals is to have as many community members as possible have access to OTM. If you are an older adult looking to participate in OTM, please see our link for Participants. If you are an exercise leader and would like to be certified as an OTM instructor, please see our link for Instructors.
